Welcome to the Institute of Professional Website Designers. |
|
Our aim is to promote good practise in the Website Design and Hosting Sector.
Good practise in Website Design will reflect best coding practice, following W3C standards, but also much more. A professional website designer should be able to demonstrate design, business management and customer management skills as well as coding skills.
Our aim is to provide peace of mind to both clients looking for a website designer and to designers looking to reflect their professionalism and commitment to their customers.
The institute was formed to promote all of these aspects of professionalism and to give website design individuals and companies a means to build and enhance these skills.
Membership of the institute is entirely free.
In addition we offer a number of other services including Websafe - our website source code verification and repository service- and our Certified Business Scheme.

More Than Coding Standards |
|
The W3C standards of coding which are widely applied to website design are extremely valuable and all website designers should strive to adhere to them.
Unfortunately they mean little to the general public and they also do little to guarantee to the lay person that a website is going to be robust, well designed or successfully deployed onto the internet.
To reassure the increasingly sceptical public a set of standards that go much further is required.
